The picturesque market town of Llanrwst is welcoming the launch of ‘Rwst’, a luxurious new holiday lodge park. The £1.8million development opened its doors to its first guests earlier this week, just as North Wales topped the charts as the UK’s most popular staycation destination.

Rwst occupies a prime location on the edge of the historic town, with scenic views across the River Conwy to the Gwydir Forest and Snowdonia mountains beyond. The park, which is a high-end redevelopment of the much-loved Trem Gwydir holiday village, includes twenty-two five-star holiday lodges, with one, two, and three-bedroom single-storey lodges available for holiday rentals.

Interior design has been led by Mon Interiors, with soft furnishings from Welsh suppliers including woven tapestry bedspreads from the nearby Trefriw Woollen Mills. Attractive riverside seating and landscaped grounds make the most of views across the river to Llanrwst’s iconic ivy-clad tearooms and Inigo Jones designed stone bridge, one of the most photographed places in Wales.

As well as the highly picturesque setting, guests can expect stylish open plan living space, with a sleek kitchen diner and comfortable sitting room, beautifully presented bedrooms, and wet room bathrooms. The larger lodges include an en-suite master bedroom, and there are shared on-site launderette facilities. Outside, guests have access to attractive private patios and outdoor dining areas, a barbecue area, and a pizza stove. A secure mountain bike lock-up and mountain bike wash station will appeal to the many visitors who come to North Wales to ride some of the best mountain bike trails in the UK.

Llanrwst sits at the southern end of the Conwy Valley, with easy access to Snowdonia’s mountains, walking and bike trails, including the Gwydir Mawr and Bach trails (formerly known as the Marin Trail). The town is also close to some of the region’s biggest attractions, including Zip World and Adventure Parc Snowdonia. As well as its famous tearooms, it has an attractive range of independent shops and artisan producers.

Llanrwst councillor, Aaron Wynne, also welcomed the launch of Rwst Holiday Lodges in the town. He said:

“Llanrwst can absolutely rival the likes of Llandudno and Betws y Coed as a tourist hotspot. The town has so much to offer, from our historic roots to our picturesque landscape.

North Wales recently topped the list of most sought after destinations for Britons looking to holiday in the UK this summer, overtaking the coastal and rural charms of Devon and Cornwall for the first time, according to a survey. Almost two-thirds (62%) of British people intend to spend their main summer break in the UK this year, up from 50% in 2019, according to an annual poll by Sykes Holiday Cottages.
