Heathrow is inviting North Wales firms to a summit designed to connect businesses directly into its supply chain.
The event at Hill Dickinson Stadium, Liverpool, on October 22, will feature practical workshops and insight sessions from key contractors already delivering work at Heathrow Airport.
It will bring together businesses from across North Wales and North West England – including suppliers like Manchester-based ATG Airports, local Chambers of Commerce, and Heathrow's procurement team – to explore joining the airport's supply chain.
Heathrow's latest Investment Impact Report showed the airport spent over £2.3 billion in its supply chain last year, with 90% of that going direct to UK businesses. Heathrow wants to grow this further as it looks ahead to expansion, ensuring all corners of the UK benefit from the project.
Expansion will generate thousands of contracts over its lifetime, opening the door for businesses from across the UK to benefit from sustained, multi‑year investment.
The series of business summits builds on the success of Heathrow's long established SME engagement programme. From family-owned businesses to innovative start-ups, over 800 SMEs across the country play a role in the UK economy by keeping over 84 million passengers and over £200 billion of trade moving through Heathrow every year.
Heathrow's Procurement Director Paul Doherty said:
“Growth is firmly on the agenda at Heathrow, and we want more businesses plugged into the opportunities available at the UK's biggest airport. We currently spend over £2 billion a year with suppliers — the vast majority British — and SMEs already power almost three quarters of our supply chain. That's why we're hitting the road, heading to Liverpool to build new relationships, and to ensure even more businesses can share in the success.”
