The Orchard Media & Events Group will be Headline Sponsor of the Welsh Premier Women’s League for the fourth consecutive year as the league celebrates its 10th anniversary.

Orchard has signed up for the 2019/20 season to once again help sustain the grass roots of the women’s game in Wales as the league reaches 10. The league formed in 2009, with three current clubs – Aberystwyth, Swansea City and Cardiff Met (formally UWIC Ladies) kicking off the inaugural season, and there are now 11 teams involved from across Wales.

Orchard became headline sponsor for the first time in 2016 in the biggest commercial deal in the history of the competition. Following the boost in profile last season, they will continue to use their PR expertise to support the league and attract more players and investment into the women’s game in Wales.

Ianthe Mumford, Welsh Premier Women’s League General Manager, said:

“The partnership between the Welsh Premier Women's League and Orchard has grown since they first joined us as league sponsor, and I am absolutely delighted that they have renewed again for the 2019/20 season. Women's football has never been more popular and the support from Orchard is crucial in helping us to grow and develop the League, bringing it to an even wider audience and the next generation.”

Orchard are dedicated followers of Welsh sport, working with Glamorgan CCC as Event and Media Partner this season, supporting the Welsh Sports Association, and handling communications for Commonwealth Games Wales. They manage match days involving both sexes for the Football Association of Wales, and produce FAW Awards ceremonies and press conferences. Orchard’s production team has made video case studies of all the women’s clubs in the league, plus two TV programmes, Women in Red, on last season’s successful run of the Welsh women’s team for BBC Wales.

Orchard Head of Marketing, Emma Wordley said:

“We’ve had a great relationship with the league over the past few years, and seen at first hand the resilience and passion of all concerned. We share that desire to see the women’s game prosper in Wales, building profile and attracting more players, and are only too happy to play our part in its ongoing development.”

The Orchard Group encompasses a broad range of exciting outputs in Wales and across the world, recently managing the UEFA Champions Festival at this year’s UEFA Champions League Final in Madrid; winning UK Regional Promoter of the Year in the Live Music Awards three times; making TV programmes for national broadcasters; producing Visit Wales films for international cinema, and providing a range of communications services from media planning and buying to PR, design, immersive technology and AV. The company turns over £15m annually, and employs 85 staff at its base in the centre of the Welsh capital.
