Plans for a £5.9 million scheme to develop 21 brand new affordable homes in Conwy county have been approved by Adra Housing Association.

The 21 homes will be developed at Plas Penrhyn, Penrhyn Bay near Llandudno and will comprise of one specially adapted two bedroom bungalow; four 2 bedroom bungalows for over 55s; eight 2 bedroom houses and eight 3 bedroom houses. They will include a mix of social rent and intermediate rent properties.

Beech Developments (NW) Ltd have been appointed as developers, with work on site progressing well.  The new homes are expected to be completed by April 2025.

This is the first housing development for Adra in the Penrhyn Bay area, with other developments already created nearby in Deganwy and Llandudno Junction. By the end of 2023,  Adra had 204 properties in the Conwy county.

Huw Evans, Adra’s Head of Development, said:

“We’re delighted to announce progress with this new development in Penrhyn Bay.

“Work had started on site, but the previous developers went into voluntary liquidation. This meant that Adra needed to consider its options moving forward.

“We have made a firm commitment to developing homes that people can be proud of and this scheme will help meet the demand for affordable housing in the county. There has been a particularly high demand for intermediate rental properties at our existing sites in the county.

“This latest development will benefit from a fabric first approach and a Passive House design which will provide future residents with very low heating costs, but will also complement Adra’s decarbonisation efforts to reduce Carbon Dioxide emissions across all of its housing stock.

“We look forward to seeing the work progress on site and start to take shape over the coming months”.
