Flexicare Chooses Welsh Hydropower for Electricity Supply

Flexicare has entered into an energy agreement with Hydro Wales to supply electricity linked to hydroelectric generation in North Wales for its South Wales headquarters.

The firm said the decision formed part of its evolving Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) agenda, building on its achievement of the EcoVadis Committed badge and representing a “practical step towards reducing operational emissions and supporting our longer-term ambition and net zero targets”.

The hydropower supplied through Hydro Wales is generated from restored sites originally built to power slate mining operations in North-West Wales. Today, these schemes can export surplus renewable electricity into local networks.

The firm's South Wales office is in Mountain Ash.

Marc Davies, Chief Operating Officer at Flexicare, said:

“As a business proudly headquartered in Wales, it matters to us how we operate and who we partner with. This agreement is a practical step that reflects our responsibility as a global medical device company, while reinforcing our longstanding connection to Wales.

“Choosing energy linked to local hydro generation supports how we make long-term decisions: measured, responsible, and grounded in doing what is right, not just what is required.”
