Cardiff fabricator Dudley’s Aluminium is supporting the construction of a new computing, engineering and technology building for the University of South Wales’ Pontypridd campus.
The fabricator will be partnering once again with BAM Construction on the Calon building which will provide teaching, research, and support space for Computing, Engineering, and Technology and bolster the university’s offerings in these subject areas.
The 11,500m2 building will contain more than 40 new collaborative teaching, learning and research spaces, including electronics, engineering, hydraulics and robotics labs and a flight simulator, as well as virtual reality capability and exhibition spaces.
The Calon building represents the university’s investment in the future of STEM and the environmentally sustainable design aligns with its target of being carbon net zero by 2040.
Dudley’s Aluminium will be using Kawneer curtain walling, windows and doors on the project.
Colin Shorney, Managing Director at Dudley’s Aluminium, said:
“We are thrilled to be taking on such an important role on this project. The Calon building will bring incredible opportunities for university students, and it’s wonderful to see such investment coming to the south Wales area. We’re delighted to be working with BAM Construction once again and continuing our successful relationship in completing innovative projects together.”
