Welsh businesses looking to develop export opportunities in the United States will have the opportunity to join a Welsh Government trade visit to San Francisco, coinciding with the Game Developers Conference (GDC) in 2027.
The multi-sector export market visit will take place from 28 February to 6 March 2027, providing participating companies with opportunities to explore the Northern Californian market, establish business connections and attend industry events.
San Francisco is a major centre for technology and innovation, with businesses and research institutions operating across sectors including software development, digital media, financial services, biotechnology and environmental technologies.
The visit will also provide opportunities for Welsh companies to explore potential business relationships in the wider region, including Silicon Valley and San Jose.
Participating businesses will benefit from:
- Opportunities to meet businesses and decision-makers in the US market
- Access to networking events and industry contacts
- Support with travel arrangements through an appointed travel agent
- Opportunities to share knowledge with other participating businesses
- Inclusion in relevant marketing materials
- The option to arrange additional business meetings with potential customers and partners
The Welsh Government is offering a supported participation package costing £1,650 per company representative, subject to eligibility and availability.
The package includes return flights, five nights’ accommodation with breakfast, in-market transfers when travelling with the group, attendance at in-market events and inclusion in relevant marketing materials.
The supported rate is available for one representative per company.
Businesses can also request an optional programme of three to four pre-arranged meetings, organised through business consultants, at an additional cost starting from £500.
The visit coincides with the Game Developers Conference, providing opportunities for businesses operating in gaming and related technology sectors to engage with the international industry.
However, Game Developers Conference passes are not included in the participation fee and must be purchased separately from the event organiser.
Application deadlines are:
- 24 January 2027 – For travel, accommodation and pre-arranged business meetings
- 29 January 2027 – For travel and accommodation only
The Welsh Government has secured a limited number of packages at the advertised rate, with costs subject to eligibility and availability.
