Drift Radio Marks Fifth Anniversary with DAB+ Launch Across North Wales

Drift Radio is marking its fifth anniversary with a major milestone as the community dance and electronic music station launches on DAB+ digital radio along the North Wales coast.

The move signals a new chapter for the Rhyl-based station. Drift will continue streaming online, via its dedicated mobile app and through smart speakers.

Drift began with a simple idea: to create a radio station that reflects the energy and creativity of the coast.

Since its launch, Drift has founded a new company with a dedicated management team.

“We're incredibly proud to be marking five years of Drift with our move onto DAB+,” said Kevin Wright, one of the station's founders.

“When we started there was nothing quite like this for our community. Drift gives people who love dance and electronic music a place to connect and be heard. By joining DAB+ we can share that same energy and entertainment with even more people across North Wales.”

Presenter Mark Cava added:

“Drift's growth so far has been incredible. I love how the station connects with the North Wales community and brings people together through music. It provides a professional platform where people of all abilities are supported to develop and succeed.”

Alongside the DAB+ launch, Drift has introduced a new mobile app. The app lets users listen live, check the DJ schedule, keep up with events and chat with others in real time.

Drift's growth has been supported by Alison Carter at Denbighshire Voluntary Services Council (DVSC), who has provided guidance and advice. Drift were also awarded a grant from the Denbighshire Key Fund, which has helped to support the station's transition to DAB+.

As part of this new chapter, Drift is also inviting local businesses and organisations to get involved through a range of sponsorship and partnership opportunities.
