Deputy Minister to Visits Wild Creations to Discuss Skills and Vocational Training

By Skills & Workforce · 5 Nov 2026 · 2 min read

Cardiff-based Wild Creations, a creative manufacturing company that designs and fabricates installations for some of the world’s biggest attractions, welcomed Cefin Campbell MS, Deputy Minister for Skills and Tertiary Education, to its Cardiff-based workshop.

During the visit, the Deputy Minister learned about Wild Creations’ work for major international clients including Universal and Merlin, and the company’s approach to developing future talent through its practical internship programmes.

The visit comes as the Welsh Government undertakes a skills audit to reform vocational skills training. Wild Creations and the Deputy Minister discussed how businesses can support these reforms by raising awareness of the range of careers available in Wales and creating development opportunities in niche or emerging sectors.

Deputy Minister for Skills and Tertiary Education, Cefin Campbell said:

“It was a pleasure to visit Wild Creations and see first-hand how their internship programme is helping people gain practical skills and workplace experience to build their careers in the creative sector. The creative industries are an important part of the Welsh economy, and programmes like this can help develop the skilled workforce the sector needs.

“As we carry out our national skills audit and continue to look at how we reform vocational training, hearing directly from businesses like this, and from the interns themselves, help us make sure people have the practical skills and opportunities they need to succeed.”

The Deputy Minister’s visit coincided with the launch of Wild Creations’ new Project Management Internship, an expansion of its existing Design Internship. The paid, three-month programme is open to students, graduates, and career movers, and demonstrates how employers can create opportunities for people to develop practical skills and gain experience in specialist roles.

The Deputy Minister spoke with current Design interns, Rohit Ranguramen and Kashish Vasantkumar, to hear about their experiences and discuss the value of internships in helping young people develop practical skills, gain hands-on workplace experience and explore future career opportunities.

Matt Wild, Founder and Director of Wild Creations, said:

“Industries like ours offer a huge range of careers, but the routes into them aren’t always obvious. Our internship programmes are about opening that door, helping people understand the opportunities available to them and giving them the chance to learn directly from our team.

“Following the positive response to our Design Internship, we’re excited to expand the programme into Project Management. We’re keen to work with the Welsh Government and continue exploring how businesses like us can help to create more opportunities for people in Wales.”

The visit highlighted the breadth of skills needed across the attractions industry, and as the Welsh Government’s skills audit gathers evidence to inform future reforms, engagement with employers provides an opportunity to understand the skills, training and experience needed across different sectors.

Wild Creations hopes to continue working with the Welsh Government to explore ways of supporting workforce development, raising awareness of career opportunities and creating accessible routes into niche or underrepresented industries.

Applications for the Project Management Internship Programme are now open. For further information and application details, visit: https://wild-creations.co.uk/jobs/
