Commercial law firm Darwin Gray has secured its place once again on the Welsh Language Commissioner’s legal panel, building on its success in advising the Commissioner over the past four years.
Darwin Gray said it had already “enjoyed significant Welsh Language Tribunal successes” on the Commissioner’s behalf. Those successes also spawned opportunities for the firm to deliver training on particular issues to the Commissioner’s stakeholders more widely, it said.
Last year, the firm also hosted two conferences on governance in north and south Wales at which the Welsh Language Commissioner was a guest speaker.
Efa Gruffudd Jones, Welsh Language Commissioner, said:
“The nature of our work, particularly as a regulator, means that we are required to ensure sound legal, and often expert, advice in the context of the Welsh language. As a result we must be confident in the companies that will provide this important service for us. Darwin Gray have demonstrated that they have an understanding of our various areas of work and are fully aware of our aims as an organisation where the Welsh language is a priority. I look forward to working together over the next few years.”
Fflur Jones, Managing Partner at Darwin Gray, said:
“We are delighted to have successfully appointed to the panel so that we can continue to work with the Welsh Language Commissioner. As one of Wales’ leading commercial firms in terms of our Welsh language capabilities, we are acutely aware of the importance her role and associated legislation have in protecting the future of the Welsh language here in Wales, and we are looking forward to continuing to provide first rate legal advice to the Commissioner on all aspects of her work.”
