Lolfa, a brand new café, bar and restaurant has opened its doors for the first time on Mansel Street in Carmarthen.

‘Lolfa’ is the Welsh word for Lounge. Owner, Steffan Hughes has designed a modern lounge with a traditional Welsh influence. The new food and cocktail bar opened its doors on the 9th November 2020.

With a passion for food, drink and all things Welsh, Steffan a local resident and his team have launched lolfa which offers Welsh produce, locally sourced interiors and a safe environment for the local community.

Steffan said:

“Our ethos here at lolfa is to source as many local ingredients and products as possible to support fellow businesses. We are lucky in Carmarthenshire to be spoiled for choice when it comes to beverages too.

During this challenging time, we aim to create a cosy atmosphere where you can relax and unwind. Whether you join us for breakfast, lunch, dinner or cocktails, our goal is to safely bring people together, to enjoy fresh meals with our friendly team”.

Aberystwyth interior designer Hannah Jones, Design House Wales led on the design of the two floor restaurant. Inspired by a traditional Welsh farmhouse, lolfa has a modern twist to it’s decor.

“We set out to tell the story behind the name, lolfa. The design has a strong sense of place; a place somewhere between the old and the new. Lolfa celebrates our Welsh heritage and my aim was to create a home from home feel in our design. It was important for us to collaborate with local artists and incorporate their work into the interior of lolfa for customers to enjoy” said Hannah.

Lolfa is managed by experienced management staff Alice George and Head Chef Tom Barber, both previously worked at Cardigan Castle restaurant and featured in the photo with Steffan Hughes.
