The proposed development of a new railway station and accompanying business park between Cardiff and Newport, known as Cardiff Parkway, stands as a beacon of economic promise for South Wales. This comes as a new planning hearing is set to convene at County Hall in Cardiff today, further delaying the project's advancement.

Although Cardiff Council initially approved the development in April 2022, there have been growing concerns regarding its ecological impact and potential disruption to wildlife. To address these issues, a hearing was conducted in July 2023 to assess the project's compliance with environmental protection regulations.

Subsequently, in October 2023, significant revisions were made to planning policy. These changes prompted the Welsh government to re-evaluate the project in the context of the updated regulations.
