Blake Morgan Promotes Leading Corporate Lawyer in Cardiff Office to Partner

Blake Morgan has announced the promotion of James Vaughan to Partner in its Cardiff-based Corporate team, recognising his role in helping to build one of Wales’ strongest legal teams for corporate transactions.

James, who joined the firm in 2018, specialises in corporate mergers and acquisitions, private equity, and venture capital investments. He works with a broad client base including investors, founders, and large corporates across Wales and beyond.

His promotion reflects his contribution to the firm’s reputation as a go-to advisor for complex corporate deals. In 2025, James was named a ‘Leading Associate’ in the Legal 500, previously listed as a ‘Rising Star’, highlighting his standout expertise in a competitive legal market.

Originally joining Blake Morgan as a Senior Associate, James was promoted to Legal Director in 2022 and has played a key role in several high-profile deals. One recent highlight includes advising the shareholders of Zip World on its sale to Dolphin Capital in January 2025.

Eve Piffaretti, Head of Wales Office at Blake Morgan, said:

“James’ promotion to Partner is very well deserved. He brings a combination of technical excellence, commercial insight and a calm, pragmatic approach that clients value. Our Corporate & Commercial team has been ranked in the top tier of the Legal 500 and recognised by Chambers UK for its strength in the market.

“The team plays an important role in supporting growing businesses across Wales with legal advice that helps them successfully scale, secure investment, or exit. We’re proud to see James step up into this leadership role and continue to grow the strength of our Corporate team here in Wales.”
