Advice on Offer to Mid Wales Businesses at Special Event

Businesses in Mid Wales can hear about legal options regarding underperforming employees at an HR seminar to be held next month.

Employment law seminars are held regularly each spring and autumn by Lanyon Bowdler Solicitors and the firm is hosting a special event with the Mid Wales Chamber of Commerce in Caersws on October 23.

The seminar will take place at Maesmawr Hall Hotel, Caersws, starting with networking and a buffet lunch at 12.30pm, and will be a great chance for people to discuss a variety of employment law issues with legal experts.

John Merry, head of the firm’s employment law team, said:

“These events are always popular and extremely useful occasions for keeping businesses up to speed with what is going on in the world of employment law.

“Our seminars are aimed at helping businesses understand what they need to know in order to remain legally compliant and also offer the opportunity to ask questions of our experts.

“Two members of our employment law team, Will Morse and Charlotte Morris will be speaking at the Caersws event.

“Underperforming employees can have a hugely detrimental effect on organisations, not only with regards to their own lack of productivity and efficiency but the knock-on effect this can have on general workplace morale and the productivity of their colleagues.

“It can be tempting to put off addressing these issues for a number of reasons, such as a lack of management time, fear of the unknown, or concerns that the employee will become even more difficult to manage or bring a claim against the company.

“We will be taking a look at poorly performing employees, including those who may have been underperforming for a long time, and we shall consider the options available to organisations to deal with these scenarios.

“We’ll dispel some myths around performance management and look at practical and commercial ways to address these issues and how we can also minimise the risks of any resultant claims being brought successfully.

“The event will afford the opportunity to network with fellow attendees both before and after the seminar.

“Delegates will also have the chance to speak to a member of our employment team, should they have any specific queries or points they would like to discuss with us.

“It promises to be an informative event and one we hope will be of great interest and benefit to those attending.

“We are anticipating a lot of interest and would advise anyone interested in coming along to book as soon as possible.”
