The ABP Newport Wales Marathon & 10K will once again be televised around the world.
Event organisers Run 4 Wales (R4W) can today confirm that an English and Welsh highlights programme will be produced, helping to showcase the event and wider region across the UK and internationally.
The event returns on Sunday 24 October after an eighteen-month delay caused by the COVID-19 pandemic and will be the largest mass participation event to take place in Wales in 2021.
A one-hour Welsh language programme will be broadcast on S4C on the 29 October at 20:00*. It will also be available to view via the BBC iPlayer. A 30-minute English programme will also be produced and will be available from December via a number of channels and streaming services including British Eurosport, Free Sports, The Bike Channel, Horizon Sports and Endurance Sports TV.
The programme will feature the elite men, women and wheelchair races, inspiring human-interest stories and an in depth look at the city of Newport and surrounding countryside.
The multi-platform coverage will feature on over 37 channels to millions of potential viewers across the world in countries such as France, Ireland, Italy, Turkey, Cyprus, Portugal, Belgium, Germany, Holland, Brazil, Spain, Switzerland and the USA.

The race will be delivered as a ‘Breathable Event' in 2021 – providing a great event day experience and atmosphere with a focus on responsibility and safety. A number of measures will be in place to help keep people safe and prevent the spread of Coronavirus. Nearly 8,000 runners have registered across the marathon and 10K races, with hundreds more expected to join in the with the Family Mile.
The race would not be possible without the support of a number of key partners and sponsors who have continued to support the event throughout the COVID-19 pandemic; including Associated British Ports (ABP), Welsh Government, Newport City Council, Healthspan, University of South Wales and Monmouthshire Building Society.
The NSPCC is the lead charity of the event and a 100 strong team of fundraisers will be taking part in the marathon & 10K to help support the fight against child abuse in Wales and the UK.
Marathon & 10K entries are now closed but a handful of spaces in the supporting Family Mile are still available. The relaxing riverside run is suitable for runners of all ages and abilities, perfect for those who would prefer to take part in a more light-hearted race for the whole family.
