More than 2,000 girls and young women from across Wales and the UK came together at The Red Dragon Centre in Cardiff Bay for Cityscapes Adventure 2026, a large-scale event organised by Girlguiding and Girlguiding Cymru.
Held across two days, the event welcomed over 1,400 attendees on Saturday and more than 700 on Sunday including Rainbows, Brownies, Guides, Rangers, leaders and Trefoil Guild members.
Cityscapes events allow participants to explore a wide range of activities at their own pace, from interactive activity bases to a day-long Goosechase scavenger hunt, giving girls the opportunity to build confidence, develop new skills and form lasting friendships.
The event focused on empowering young people, particularly older members, to grow in independence, work as part of a team and be inspired by the achievements of strong women from Wales.
A 7.3ft climbing wall was installed at The Centre, where over the course of the weekend the girls climbed a combined height equivalent to Mount Everest, supported by Tori who scaled the 8,849m mountain in 2007.

Tori James, President of Girlguiding Cymru and the first Welsh woman to climb Everest, who attended the event, said:
“Guiding gave me the confidence to try new things, meet new people and visit new places. It taught me that to achieve anything you needed to make a commitment to yourself and to others. I loved selecting the next badge I would work towards. Achieving one badge made me want to strive for the next. It taught me to set my sight on the next goal.
“I learnt all the essential camp craft skills through Girlguiding. My most memorable achievement was gaining my Camp Permit Award and being selected to represent Wales at an international camp in Olympia, Greece.
“For me, Guiding is about fun, friendship and finding out what matters to you.”
Kathy Gunner, Chief Commissioner for Girlguiding Cymru, said:
“This wonderful event underlines Girlguiding Cymru’s continued commitment to provide opportunities for young people to thrive.
“The fact that participants travelled from across Wales and beyond, reflects the national scale and appeal of the event.”
Emma Constantinou, Marketing Manager at The Red Dragon Centre, said:
“This event was a first for us and it was just fantastic to see everyone coming together and really enjoying themselves.”
Cityscapes is part of Girlguiding Cymru’s wider programme of opportunities designed to support girls’ development, build resilience and create a strong sense of community.
