Family-owned P&A Group has marked a landmark year of charitable fundraising with the presentation of two cheques to its chosen charities for 2025, MS Society Cymru and North Clwyd Animal Rescue (NCAR).
The presentation comes during a milestone period for the business, marking 40 years of the P&A Group and the 20th anniversary of Zest Outdoor Living, a key division specialising in garden furniture, grow-your-own products and decorative garden structures.
Funds raised during 2025 totalled £12,823.97 for MS Society Cymru and £3,320.65 for North Clwyd Animal Rescue, with cheques presented to Andy Green, Fundraising Manager at MS Society Cymru, and Nicky Owen from NCAR.
Throughout the year, employees from across P&A Group and its divisions came together to support the chosen charities through an extensive programme of fundraising activities, with teams from Zest, Pallets and Woodworks supporting one another across events and volunteering initiatives.
Physical challenges included marathons and half marathons, the MBNA Chester 10K, the Born Survivor authentic military obstacle course, the UK’s highest bungee jump at Tatton Park, and the demanding Welsh Three Peaks Challenge, conquering Pen y Fan, Cadair Idris and Y Wyddfa (Snowdon).
Fundraising was designed to be accessible to everyone, with a wide range of non-sporting and community-based initiatives also taking place. These included baking events, ‘month without’ challenges, Easter and Christmas raffles, a community quiz night hosted at Woodworks Garden Centre and a community yard sale held at the Group’s Saltney site. Colleagues also gave their time to directly support North Clwyd Animal Rescue, volunteering 194 hours of hands-on support, including dedicated dog walking at the charity’s Trelogan site near Holywell.
Nicky Owen from North Clwyd Animal Rescue said:
“The commitment and generosity shown by everyone at P&A throughout the past year has been truly outstanding. The funds raised will make a significant difference, helping us rescue, rehabilitate and rehome animals in need across North Wales. Beyond the fundraising, the time and energy given by employees has been invaluable, and we are incredibly grateful for the positive impact this partnership has had on both our charity and the animals we care for.”
Andy Green, Fundraising Manager at MS Society Cymru, added:
“We are incredibly proud of what P&A Group has achieved through their fundraising efforts. The commitment shown throughout the year has been outstanding, and the funds raised will have a lasting impact, enabling us to continue providing vital services and support to people living with MS across Wales. This support brings us a step closer to our shared goal of stopping MS.”
MS Society Cymru works across Wales to raise awareness of multiple sclerosis and to provide essential support to those living with the condition. North Clwyd Animal Rescue is one of the largest animal rescue charities in North Wales and the North West, caring for more than 1,500 animals every year and specialising in the rescue and rehoming of domestic pets.
Andrew Baker, Managing Director of P&A Group, said:
“This has been an incredibly proud year for everyone across P&A Group. I’ve seen real teamwork, resilience and encouragement, with colleagues supporting one another to achieve something truly meaningful. Our fundraising is about more than raising money, it’s about building a culture of care, community and wellbeing.
“We believe strongly in the positive impact of spending time together, getting outdoors and taking part in shared experiences and challenges, not only for physical health but for mental wellbeing too.”
Over the past 16 years, employees across P&A Group have raised and donated more than £190,000 for a wide range of local and national charities, including Dementia UK, British Heart Foundation, Macmillan Cancer Support, Hope House and Tŷ Gobaith Children’s Hospices, Cancer Research UK, Action for Children, Alzheimer’s Society, Alder Hey Children’s Hospital, Meningitis Now and MIND.
Founded in 1985, P&A Group comprises Zest Outdoor Living, a supplier of award-winning timber garden products, the Woodworks Garden Centre and Café in Mold, and P&A Pallets & Packing Cases.
