Trydan Gwyrdd Cymru, a renewable energy company owned by the Welsh Government, is launching a consultation about its proposals for Glyn Cothi Wind Farm at Brechfa Forest, Carmarthenshire.
It said the Glyn Cothi wind farm would make an important contribution to securing energy supplies and tackling climate change with up to 27 turbines (162MW using 6MW turbines), enough to power 144,000 average Welsh homes with clean electricity.
Trydan Gwyrdd Cymru is also focused on securing other benefits locally including enhancing nature on site, community funding, and improved recreational access to the forest.
Trydan is using public procurement processes to create opportunities for local suppliers and supporting jobs. Profits generated will be returned to the Welsh Government as the sole shareholder of the company.

We are looking forward to meeting people at the consultation events, hearing the views and ideas of local people, and feeding our learnings back into the next stage of the design process.
“Our aim is to make the best use of public land and Wales’ abundant natural resources to generate clean energy while ensuring benefits are felt locally.”
The Trydan Gwyrdd Cymru team will be hosting local drop-in events which will include a digital model of what the wind farm might look like, project information boards and maps.

- 3:30pm – 7:00pm, Thursday 6 November at Ysgol Gynradd Llanybydder, SA40 9RP
- 3:00pm – 7:00pm Friday 7 November at Abergorlech Church Hall, SA32 7SN
- 10:00am – 2:00pm Saturday 8 November at Brechfa Church Hall, SA32 7RA
The consultation is also being hosted online.
