Private Sector Experts Wanted for New Specialist Board

Applications are being invited for private sector experts in fields including transport, planning, land use and energy to join a new board.

The private sector advisory board has been set up to provide specialist advice to members of the Corporate Joint Committee (CJC) for South West Wales.

Applications for an additional private sector advisor are also invited for other sectors including construction, digital, tourism and the creative industries.

Significant experience in the identified sectors is being sought, as well as strong leadership and communication skills and a willingness to work in partnership with others.

Mark John, the co-founder of Tramshed Tech, has recently been appointed as the private sector advisory board's chairman.

Formally established in 2022 to strengthen economic prosperity across the region, the CJC for South West Wales is made up of the Leaders of Carmarthenshire Council, Neath Port Talbot Council, Pembrokeshire Council and Swansea Council, as well as senior representatives of the Bannau Brycheiniog and Pembrokeshire National Park Authorities.

Cllr Rob Stewart, Chairman of the CJC for South West Wales, said:

“The CJC is looking at a variety of areas like transport, economic development, energy and land use to ensure a more coordinated approach in helping South West Wales realise its enormous potential in the coming years.

“There's a huge amount of private sector expertise in these fields and many others across the region though, so we're encouraging specialists in the sectors we've identified to apply to become a member of the advisory board.

“They'll be key to giving expert guidance to members of the CJC as the public and private sectors continue to work as closely as possible together to benefit residents and businesses throughout Carmarthenshire, Neath Port Talbot, Pembrokeshire and Swansea.”

Applications for the roles are now open here until midnight on Sunday August 10.

Private sector experts interested in finding out more are asked to contact either Jonathan Burnes on jburnes@carmarthenshire.gov.uk or Kristy Tillman on kristy.tillman@swansea.gov.uk
