Hobbs Valve celebrates tenth anniversary and looks forward to the next ten years
An industry-leading Caerphilly company which invented a valve used all over the world every day is celebrating its tenth anniversary.
Thousands of Hobbs Valve’s (Hobbs) Triple Offset Butterfly Valves are used in the oil and gas, power, chemical, mining, marine, military, pharmaceutical and steel industries. Today these valves cope with extremes of pressure and temperature in the toughest industrial and natural environments.
Hobbs designs, develops and manufactures the patented, high-performance valves using advanced precision engineering techniques at its hi-tech facility at Trecenydd Business Park.
Over the last 10 years, the company has benefitted from Welsh Government grants as well as the backing of Caerphilly County Borough Council, Finance Wales and HSBC.
“Our first ten years have been absolutely amazing. From coming up with the idea and initial designs for our Triple Offset Butterfly Valve we’ve built a business with a strong customer base and global reach. Innovation is at the core of our business and we’re determined to stay at the cutting edge and ahead of the competition.
“We’re a proud Welsh company and all our valves are designed and manufactured here in Wales and exported globally. The knowledge and expertise of our staff is second to none, they’re always coming up with new products to suit our customers’ challenging requirements,” Chairman Alun Hobbs explained at Hobbs’ tenth anniversary celebration last Friday.
As part of this open day Hobbs raised money for Litte Hearts Matter and Noah’s Ark Appeal charities.
Further expansion will see Hobbs expand with the opening of a new manufacturing facility in North America.
“While I’d like to thank our customers, suppliers, staff and backers for their support over the last ten years, I’m sure they’ll be pleased to hear that we’re aiming to double the size of the company in the next five years. We have exciting expansion plans which will see us move into new markets and take on more diverse and challenging projects. We’re also planning to expand our manufacturing facilities in key markets to support our expansion,” Hobbs concluded.
Established by Alun Hobbs in 2005 and led by key industry professionals and experts, Hobbs is at the forefront of triple offset engineering and currently employs 36 staff in a range of high-calibre roles.
The company’s in-house design engineers use leading technologies including 3D Solid Modelling, Finite Element Analysis (FEA), and Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) to provide customers with tailor-made solutions.
