Welsh chef Carl Cleghorn has been named a finalist in the prestigious National Chef of the Year 2025 competition.
Carl, who is the founder of bespoke private dining service Tyme by Carl Cleghorn, is the only Welsh chef to earn a place in the final.
Seen as the UK’s most prestigious and respected culinary contest, the competition has a long heritage, having helped to launch careers and opportunities for some of the biggest names in the UK’s chef world.
Originally from Cardiff and now based in Newport, Carl has brought his wealth of experience from Michelin-starred and AA Rosette-awarded kitchens to his business, which delivers restaurant-quality dining experiences directly to clients' homes and venue across the M4 corridor.
“I am incredibly proud to represent Wales in the final of such a prestigious competition,” said Carl. “This is an amazing opportunity to showcase the talent we have in Wales and a testament to the hard work that goes into every dish. I am looking forward to the final and hope to make my country proud.”
The final of the National Chef of the Year 2025 will take place on Tuesday, 7th October at a VIP Awards evening at the Hippodrome Casino in Leicester Square, London, where the winner will be announced.
