The University of South Wales (USW) has secured renewed contracts to continue delivering police training programmes for Devon and Cornwall Police, Dorset Police, Gloucestershire Constabulary, and Wiltshire Police.
The long-standing partnerships allow USW to deliver the Police Constable Entry Routes (PCER) for new police officers in England and Wales.
Under the renewed 10-year agreements, new police recruits will complete one of three different USW programmes. All programmes are delivered in collaboration with USW’s Operational Policing Department, which specialises in practice-based police education.
USW is the only UK university to hold police force training partnerships across both England and Wales, with additional contracts in place with Heddlu Dyfed Powys Police, South Wales Police, and Gwent Police. These partnerships span some of the UK’s largest geographic areas, giving USW a major role in national police training.
“We’re proud to extend our work with these police forces,” said Professor Peter Vaughan, Director of the International Centre for Policing and Security.
“These continued partnerships are a testament to the strength and quality of our police education programmes, and to the trust placed in us to help shape the future of policing.”
