Whisper Films, which is co-owned by former F1 driver David Coulthard, and currently produces Formula One for C4 and NFL for the BBC, has opened new offices in Cardiff.
The fastest growing TV production company in the UK, Whisper is investing a significant six-figure sum into the local area, as it seeks to draw on the local talent base and bring new job opportunities to the area. It has already agreed partnerships with regional companies, such as Lens 360 and 78 Seventy.
Whisper Wales recently won the 2019 Rugby World Cup contract for S4C, which marks the second step of its ambitious plans within Wales’ thriving creative community. It secured the host broadcast contract for the BBC’s Live Women’s Football, including England Internationals and the Women’s FA Cup Final, earlier this year.
Awarded Broadcast’ Best Places to Work, 2017-18, Whisper will be seeking to bring it’s creativity, diversity and growth to its new office and set up new local ventures like its current successful Partnership with Royal Holloway University.
The opening event was attended by both former and current Rugby players as well as some well-known faces from Welsh TV.
Managing Director Sunil Patel said:
“Its great news that our Welsh office in Cardiff will be officially opening. Having heavyweights like the BBC and S4C chose to work with us for international events, like the 2019 Rugby World Cup and Women’s England internationals, gives great momentum to Whisper Wales’ ambitious plans and it’s a great way to start our new venture. We are looking forward to tapping into Wales’ exciting talent pool and working on a host of creative and innovative future projects.”
The announcement comes at a time when creative investment is moving out of London and bringing increased opportunities around the UK.
