Tŷ Gwyrddfai has unveiled its latest initiative aimed at fostering growth and development within the local construction sector.
Tendra, funded by the Welsh Government Flexible Skills Programme, is designed to help local businesses grow, develop and access new opportunities. The initiative will deliver a series of practical training sessions to enhance skills, strengthen capacity and prepare businesses for future collaboration with Adra and other public sector organisations.
Recognising the challenges faced by small construction firms, particularly the administrative complexities associated with tendering processes, Tendra aims to break down these barriers. With the strapline “Building the future, one tender at a time,” the project will support businesses to navigate paperwork, build confidence, and successfully bid for work, including larger contracts via platforms such as Sell2Wales.
Throughout 2026, Tendra will deliver a programme of free workshops tailored to the needs of small construction businesses. Topics will include:
- Understanding Adra's tendering procedures
- Pricing projects effectively
- Securing relevant accreditations
- Prioritising health and safety
- Understanding social value
- Using AI to strengthen tender submissions
- An introduction to Net Zero and carbon reduction planning
These sessions are designed to equip participants with the practical knowledge and skills needed to thrive in an increasingly competitive industry.
Rhys Roberts, Tŷ Gwyrddfai Business and Development Manager, who is leading the initiative, said:

“We will work closely alongside businesses, guiding them through paperwork and processes with practical, hands-on support and clear, tailored advice to build confidence when applying for new work.
“Alongside this, we will offer access to resources and networking opportunities that open doors and support long-term success.
“This approach helps keep investment local, supports the employment of local people, and contributes to protecting the Welsh language and culture by enabling access to quality jobs within our communities.”
The initiative will culminate in a Meet the Buyer event, bringing together housing associations and other construction sector buyers to showcase their project pipelines for the next 12 months.
