Chwarae Teg is asking organisations across Wales to take a break to #BreakTheBias and have some fun fundraising this International Women’s Day.

The charity is supporting organisations to host their own International Women’s Day Coffee Morning in aid of its own vital work in eradicating gender inequality in Wales. A chance to also celebrate inspirational women and recognise the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women.

By signing up workplaces will receive a welcome pack with everything they need for a successful coffee morning, which should boost staff wellbeing and engagement by coming together to do good.

Some key facts to remember this International Women’s Day:

  • 93% of sexual offences are committed against Women.
  • 12.3% is the gender pay gap in Wales.
  • 86% of women aged 18-24 have experienced sexual harassment.
  • 28% of women in Wales feel safe walking alone after dark.

Claire Foster, Fundraising & Grants Manager, Chwarae Teg, said:

“This year marks 30 years of Chwarae Teg campaigning for Gender Equality, working tirelessly to ensure that all women in Wales receive a fair slice of the cake. But our work isn’t done yet. Crucial donations ensure Chwarae Teg’s continued work in creating a fairer Wales, where all women can achieve and prosper.

“As well as being a great opportunity to socialise with colleagues and celebrate women’s achievements, organisations that sign up are really demonstrating their commitment to gender equality and can raise awareness against bias.”

Sophie Webber, Innovation Project Coordinator, Tramshed Tech, said:

“At Tramshed Tech, we are proud to have a predominantly female led senior leadership team with Louise Harris at the helm. We are passionate about championing women in our community and events like this are a great opportunity to celebrate the incredible women in our community who are pioneering in the work that they do.”
