Swansea University’s Bay Campus and the redevelopment of the existing Singleton Campus will mark the next step in the University’s journey in becoming a world-leading Institution promoting continuous innovation that is central to the vibrancy of the Knowledge Economy of Wales, and the UK and is one of the top-5 Knowledge Economy projects in Europe.
The University has already achieved its ambition to be a top thirty research University, soaring up Research Excellence Framework (REF) league tables to 26th in the UK, a huge leap from 52nd in 2008. The Bay Campus will further enable the University to continue its period of tremendous growth and ‘break-out’ of its current estate constraints, providing space for growth and facilitating increased collaboration with industry, pioneering an approach to co-location, intermingling academia, industry, research and students. Academics and industry will share not only on the same site, but the same laboratories and facilities. By 2020 Swansea University will be a unique dual campus university, on a beach and in a park.
