Sports Law Specialist Supports Macron in Wrexham AFC Partnership

Leading Welsh law firm JCP Solicitors has advised a deal between the rising stars of Welsh football, Wrexham AFC, and Italian sportswear giant Macron Sportswear, naming Macron as the team’s Official Technical Kit Supplier in a multi-year deal.

Andrew Meech, Director and Joint Head of Commercial Litigation and a Sports Law specialist, acted for Macron in the deal to renew their long-standing partnership with the acclaimed Championship football club.

The agreement will see Macron supply Wrexham AFC with the official team kit, replica kit and official training and travel-wear. The deal includes worldwide retail rights, online and wholesale to retailers, and confirms Wrexham’s position as a dedicated Macron Sports Hub – with retail space for teams, athletes, and sports enthusiasts.

Having found global fame thanks to its recent acquisition by Hollywood stars Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenny – and the ensuing docu-series Welcome to Wrexham – the football club has become an international brand. The partnership between Macron and Wrexham AFC is founded on a shared vision of global ambition, supporting the club to achieve incredible results on and off the pitch while gaining three consecutive promotions.

Over the nine years of the partnership between both world-wide brands, Macron’s innovative kit designs have emphasised the visual identity of Wales’ oldest football team to promote teamwork, respect and determination. The new kits will be revealed from mid-July, during the Wrexham Down Under Tour 2025/26 in Australia and New Zealand.

Gianluca Pavanello, CEO of Macron, said:

“What Wrexham AFC have achieved in recent years has been remarkable. We are thrilled to have been a part of it and to continue this sporting journey together. The interest, loyalty and overall engagement has grown steadily, driving us to create collections that truly reflect the passion for this shirt of both the players and the fans. This is our philosophy – one we bring to our work every day and are proud to share with Wrexham, in a partnership that exemplifies how sport, passion and innovation can come together to create something truly special.”

Andrew Meech, Director at JCP Solicitors, said:

“This latest deal for Macron further emphasises their position as a leading brand in the global sportswear market, with strong ambitions to support high-profile teams to succeed. Partnering with Wrexham AFC celebrates both organisations’ ambitions and passion for the sport, alongside a strong commitment to local community.

“Working closely with Macron’s team on this technical partnership, we were able to draw on our previous experience with the brand to get the best possible outcome. We take pride in supporting Macron to achieve their global aims, and can bring our extensive knowledge and expertise gained through multiple, complex sportswear deals to ensure the sportswear giant continues to agree successful, mutually beneficial partnerships. We look forward to seeing how Macron’s continued support of this exceptional football club develops.”

This partnership is the latest of many high-profile deals JCP Solicitors has advised for Macron, following the recently announced partnership with Cricket South Africa and previous deals with Crystal Palace, the Welsh Rugby Union, Connacht Rugby and World Rugby.
