South Wales Housebuilder Raises £4,000 for a Local Dog Shelter

Persimmon Homes East Wales presented the cheque to Llanharan-based Hope Rescue earlier this month. £2,500 is the result of fundraising efforts by staff who undertook the Three Peaks challenge earlier this summer.

The remaining £1,500 came from Persimmon’s Community Champions scheme, which sees £48,000 go to good causes and much-valued organisations across Wales each year.

Hope Rescue is the leading dog welfare charity that saves the lives of stray, abandoned, and unwanted dogs in South Wales. Since 2005, its team has given a second chance to thousands of dogs that need a new start, from its dedicated facilities in Rhondda Cynon Taf.

They commit to take all the stray dogs from six local council areas – Caerphilly, Merthyr Tydfil, Torfaen, Blaenau Gwent, Rhondda Cynon Taf, Bridgend, and the western half of the Vale of Glamorgan – irrespective of their age, breed, or medical condition.

Whilst they prepare dogs for their second chance at a happy life, taking time to assess their needs and find the perfect home, they also provide valuable support to pet owners in crisis who need to rehome their pets.

Hope Rescue actively campaigns for improvements to animal welfare legislation and enforcement and provides support and advice to the public on responsible dog ownership.

Persimmon Homes East Wales has homes for sale at developments in Blaenau Gwent, Merthyr Tydfil, and northwest Cardiff. There are currently three, four, and five-bed homes for sale at The Parish, based in the capital, from £334,995.

Commenting, Persimmon Homes East Wales Sales Director, Victoria Williams, said:

“Being based just up the road from our headquarters and doing great work across a large area of South Wales, Hope Rescue is an ideal local charity for Persimmon to support.

“We’re pleased to be able to do this through a combination of support through our Community Champions scheme and direct fundraising efforts from colleagues who undertook the Three Peaks challenge.

“With our development, The Parish, only a few minutes’ drive away, there’ll no doubt be a dog looked after by Hope Rescue that will one day make a Persimmon house their home too.”

Jade Lewis, Corporate Partnerships Fundraiser at Hope Rescue – added:

“We’re delighted Persimmon have chosen us as charity they’d love to support – not only once, but twice over, through help from both their Community Champions scheme and from fundraising by the business.

“This donation will help us continue to do the work we love to do, looking after beautiful dogs who are in need of a little help to find their perfect home.”
