Shopping Centre Marks ‘Transformational’ Year with Record Growth

M Cwmbran Marks a Transformational Year with Record Growth

M Cwmbran is celebrating a ‘transformative' year which saw an increase in footfall and 16 new store openings.

The centre, which is managed by LCP, part of M Core, saw 22.2 million visitors in 2024, a 7.36% year-on-year increase compared to 2023. It also welcomed a range of new retailers, including Dunelm, The Range, Coffii, Kitoko, and Cards Direct.

Dan, manager at Cards Direct, said:

“There’s lots of activity in and around the centre, attracting shoppers from across Wales. Since opening in June, we’ve welcomed over 85,000 shoppers and have seen such success that we’ve since opened additional stores in Newport and Bridgend. As the first Cards Direct store in Wales, we are excited to bring our first-ever Mother's Day and Easter ranges, which our customers are already eager to see.”

Coffee #1 has also seen a strong performance, with store manager Alastair saying:

“Being in a coffee shop surrounded by others could be seen as competition, but it’s actually a friendly and supportive environment. The transparency from the M Cwmbran team allows us to plan for events, and our customers love seeing new retailers arriving – vacant spaces are never empty for long. With a prime location near the bus depot, free parking, and the train station, footfall has been fantastic, and we’re even bringing in new furniture to accommodate more customers.”

Adam Martin, Asset Manager for M Cwmbran and Head of Bristol Office at LCP, said:

“We are incredibly proud of the transformation M Cwmbran has undergone over the past year. The addition of 16 new retailers, combined with our investment in commercialisation and visitor experience, demonstrates our commitment to making this centre a leading retail and leisure destination in Wales. The rise in footfall and retailer success stories prove that our efforts are paying off, and we look forward to continuing this positive momentum into the future.”
