UK protection insurance comparison provider marks record month with 89% rise in sales.

Sales of private healthcare policies have hit an all-time high according to ActiveQuote, which has recorded its highest ever number of sales in its 12-year history.

The number of policies sold rose by 89% in March compared to the previous year, with the number of enquiries up by a fifth in the same period (21%).

Rod Jones, Head of Partnerships at ActiveQuote, said:

“We have reached an unprecedented level of sales in private healthcare policies here at ActiveQuote, driven largely by a newer generation of customer coming to market for the first time.

“Private healthcare providers have been quick to adapt and develop their product offering in response to a generally younger, possibly more budget conscious, consumer who simply wants to know their healthcare needs are covered bearing the current climate in mind.”

“Around 90% of policies sold today are to customers who have never had private health insurance before, and that’s a huge statistic,” Rod added.

ActiveQuote has been working hard in response to providing customers access to advice through the development of a new algorithmic model called Rubee.

The model allocates a score to every enquiry, which informs the order and frequency of the follow-up contact strategy. This enables ActiveQuote advisers to give customers with the highest intent to purchase the right information, guidance and support quicker and those who are just browsing, space to consider their options.

Rod said:

“Just as insurers have been adapting their own products to cope with the growing demands around private healthcare in the UK, ActiveQuote been focusing on enhancing the way it is able to support customers at a time when they have in many ways never needed it more.

“In doing so, we are helping more first-time customers find the cover they need at a price suited to them.”

“This, combined with the work insurers are doing to bring a newer range of ‘no nonsense’ products to market, has helped reassure consumers that affordable and effective healthcare is indeed accessible to them, and many others,” Rod said.

ActiveQuote is the UK’s leading comparison website and broker of health and protection insurance products, including private medical insurance, income protection, life insurance and critical illness cover.
