Richard Dawson Signs Three-Year Contract Extension at Glamorgan

Glamorgan County Cricket Club is proud to announce that Men’s Team Head Coach Richard Dawson has signed a three year contract extension at Sophia Gardens.

Since his arrival in February, Richard’s influence has ushered vast improvements at the Club, most notably in our promotion race in the Rothesay County Championship. Vitality Blast performances have also improved this season, with the team narrowly missing out on qualification for the knockout stages.

Of most importance, Richard’s player development expertise, in strong alignment with Glamorgan’s long-term strategy, continues to facilitate the introduction and progress of our exciting young players at the Club. Ben Kellaway, Asa Tribe and Will Smale have all scored their first senior centuries for the club this season.

Speaking on the contract extension, Richard said:

“I’m really excited to extend my stay at Glamorgan. I’ve enjoyed working with everyone at the club this season and look forward to continuing this work with players and coaching staff in the seasons ahead.”

Mark Walace, Glamorgan Director of Cricket added:

“We're delighted that Richard has agreed to commit to Glamorgan for the next 3 years. He's shown this year the impact he can have across the club from top to bottom and he's the ideal coach to take the club forward.

“Richard is undoubtedly one of the best coaches in the country and brings a unique skill set to help us grow and develop existing players and future talent coming through at the club.”

Richard resumes Glamorgan coaching duties on completion of the 2025 Hundred campaign with Welsh Fire. Currently second in Rothesay County Championship Division Two, the Club has three key fixtures remaining to close the 2025 season.
