Record Numbers Set for Swansea Half Marathon and Festival Races

Wales’ biggest summer running festival is set to return to Swansea.

The festival, taking place on Sunday, June 8, features a triple-header of races: the Swansea University Swansea Half Marathon, the Front Runner 5 Miler, and the Freedom Leisure Family Fun Run.

This year marks the 11th edition of the Swansea University Swansea Half Marathon and it’s set to be the biggest yet, with a record number of athletes registered. The event will also host the prestigious Master Road International Championships, welcoming 286 Masters Athletes from across the UK and beyond.

The festival is organised by Swansea-based Front Runner Events.

“We’re incredibly proud to see how far this event has come,” said Tash Smith, Managing Director of Front Runner Events Ltd.

“What started as a local race has grown into a major fixture on the UK running calendar. This year’s festival not only showcases top-tier athletic talent but also brings families, communities, and charities together in a powerful way. It’s about more than running — it’s about creating impact and helping make Swansea the city made for running.”

Shelter Cymru is this year’s headline partner. There will also be runners from Maggie’s Swansea, and one from Morgan’s Army, running in support of local families facing cancer.

All the charities will be at the Race Village on Museum Park.

The event is made possible thanks to the support of sponsors and partners including headline partners at Swansea University, official hydration partners Brecon Carreg, and official vehicle partners at Gravells who will be leading the way with their electric car to guide runners along the route.
