Property Entrepreneur Mandy St Davey John MBE is a Keynote Speaker at National Conference

Leading Welsh property entrepreneur, Mandy St John Davey MBE, who has built a multi-million pound property portfolio and champions women in business, will be a keynote speaker at the National Women in Leadership Conference 2024.

Award-winning businesswoman, mentor and motivational speaker, Mandy is passionate about creating mentoring opportunities for women and will speak on the topic at the conference in London, which takes place on Thursday March 7, ahead of International Women’s Day. She will be one of a number of speakers on the day.

The annual event, organised by The Institute of Government and Public Policy, brings together senior leaders from local authorities, charities, academia, education and the wider public sector to hear the latest developments and challenges affecting women progressing into, and establishing, their leadership roles.

Mandy, who lives in Aberdare, South Wales, was awarded an MBE in the recent King’s New Year’s Honours list in recognition of her Services to Working Women and her former role as national chair for Women in Property. She is a leading property developer who champions women in business, particularly in property and construction.

With over 30 years of experience in the industry, specialising in residential property, renovations and buy-to-lets, Mandy is well-known for mentoring and supporting women.

Her dedication has also led to her working as a Welsh Government ‘construction role model’ and a volunteer mentor for The Prince’s Trust.

Mandy, who was last year named among the top ten inspirational women in the UK construction industry, will focus on the value of mentoring women into leadership and creating mentoring opportunities.

Mandy said:

“I speak around the UK and internationally on mentoring, gender equality and unconscious bias as well as female empowerment, so I’m delighted to be invited to speak at this event.

“It’s timely that it’s being held around International Women’s Day (March 8) which, this year, is about ‘Inspiring Inclusion’ and forging a more inclusive world for women.”

Almost 30 years ago Mandy was forced to leave a successful corporate career in IT due to ill health. Mandy saw an opportunity in the property market and began working out of her spare bedroom at her South Wales home, building up a multi-million property portfolio, both in the UK and overseas.

“There were few women in my industry at the time and no one to champion me which is why I feel mentoring is so important for women like myself who now need support within the industry or in building their own property portfolios,” she explained.
