Principality Building Society has been ranked 27th in the 2025/26 Inclusive Top 50 UK Employers List (IT50).
Compiled by Inclusive Companies, the IT50 acknowledges and ranks organisations which are most consistent throughout the whole of their organisation and encompass all types of diversity.
Now in its tenth year, the Inclusive Top 50 UK Employers List is the definitive cross-industry index harnessing both best practice and innovation with the goal of driving inclusion for all. It comprises the 50 most inclusive companies in the UK as chosen by a dedicated panel of judges, based on each organisation’s performance across all strands of diversity – gender, disability, age, LGBTQ+, race, faith and religion.
Principality has risen from 49th place in 2023 to 32nd in 2024, and now to 27th.
Through its “Inclusivity by Design” approach, Principality aims to create a workplace and culture of belonging that actively welcomes and includes everyone. This means embedding inclusive thinking into how leaders support colleagues and how services are designed for Members and communities, it said.
The organisation’s internal colleague networks play a key role in shaping policy, raising awareness, and ensuring that lived experience directly informs decision-making across the organisation.
This year, Principality is supporting the Sunflower, a global movement embraced by businesses and communities worldwide, all working to create a more understanding and inclusive society. This partnership enhances the Society’s ability to provide accessible and inclusive experiences for customers and Members interacting with the services. By adopting this initiative, all colleagues are receiving dedicated training to help them recognise the Sunflower symbol and tailor conversations and customer journeys accordingly.
Gemma Bowen, Chief People Officer at Principality Building Society, said:
“We are incredibly proud to be recognised once again in the Inclusive Top 50 UK Employers List. As a responsible mutual organisation, our purpose has always been to champion a fairer society. Seeing our ranking rise year-on-year reflects the commitment of our colleagues who bring this purpose to life, ensuring everyone feels that they can belong and bring their most authentic selves to work.
“While we’re delighted at this years’ ranking, inclusion is not a milestone for us – it’s a journey, and this recognition reinforces that we’re taking the right steps for the future.”
Paul Sesay, Founder and CEO of Inclusive Companies, said:
“Every year, the standard rises as organisations demonstrate ever-stronger evidence of their commitment to truly inclusive cultures. The IT50 List celebrates employers who go beyond initiatives and policies, and instead embed diversity and inclusion into the fabric of how they operate. Our judges look for consistency, authenticity and long-term impact, and this year’s entries show just how many organisations are investing in meaningful, sustainable change.”
