Pembrokeshire Council Launches Welsh Language Strategy Consultation

Pembrokeshire County Council has launched a consultation in relation to a draft Welsh Language Strategy for the next five years.

The council needs to produce and publish a five-year plan setting out how the Welsh language is promoted in Pembrokeshire as part of the national Welsh Language Standards.

The Draft Welsh Language Strategy 2026-31 includes objectives, a target and an action plan.

Cabinet Member for Education and the Welsh Language, Cllr Guy Woodham, said:

“This Welsh Language Strategy focuses on developing the use and visibility of the Welsh Language across the county and is supported by our Welsh in education strategy.

“Please take the chance to have your say on how we support the Welsh language over the next five years.”

A paper copy of the strategy can be obtained by calling the Customer Contact Centre on 01437 764551 or emailing policy@pembrokeshire.gov.uk

The information gathered during the consultation will be used to help Members in deciding what the final Welsh Language Strategy 2026-31 will be, the council said.

The closing date for completed responses is 22 March 2026, by 5pm.
