Llanelli Town AFC has become the first football club in Wales to launch on Republic Europe, the sports investment platform that allows fans and investors worldwide to own equity stakes in professional clubs.
The partnership opens up a new era for Llanelli Town, providing fresh opportunities for supporter engagement and sustainable financing in the Welsh game, it said. Through Republic Europe, individuals can now invest directly into the club’s future, aligning with a growing trend of democratised sports ownership.
The deal was brokered by Intermezzo Sports Ltd, a Glasgow-based sports agency specialising in football club M&A, finance, and strategic partnerships.
“This is about creating a new model for football club sustainability,” said Cesare Marchetti, CEO of Intermezzo Sports.
“Fan and investor ownership provides clubs with an alternative source of capital, while offering supporters the chance to play a meaningful role in shaping the future of their team.”
The firm added that the launch of Llanelli Town on Republic Europe signals a wider shift in the football industry, as lower-league and community-based clubs increasingly explore innovative financing solutions beyond traditional ownership structures.
