
Ty George, the Bridgend-based specialist residential support for adults with autism, learning disabilities and mental health conditions, has achieved ‘Excellent' ratings across all four categories of wellbeing, care and support, environment, and leadership and management in its latest Care Inspectorate Wales (CIW) report.
Ty George has gone through a full refurbishment, which was completed in February and features a large kitchen, areas for activities and relaxation, as well as private rooms, a large kitchen, areas for activities and relaxation. It also has outside areas, which have been designed to promote connection between residents to help them live independently – all of which were described as ‘homely' and of a ‘high quality' by the CIW report.
The CIW report highlighted Ty George's, which is run by Orbis Education and Care, commitment to enabling the people it supports to ‘live happy, independent lives while receiving high-quality care'.
The report praises staff, stating that they ‘know people well and use this knowledge to promote a positive sense of identity and self-worth,' demonstrating a tailored approach that balances independence with appropriate support.
The report also commends the leadership and management of the home for cultivating a ‘positive and open culture', encouraging staff and residents to raise any concerns and promoting an environment built on equality, diversity and inclusion.
