Orbis Education and Care Celebrates Double Success at National Awards

Orbis Education and Care secured one team award and a highly commended at this year’s National Learning Disabilities and Autism Awards which took place at the ICC, Birmingham.

Dan y Coed school in Swansea scooped the Making a Difference Award, having been recognised for its promotion of inclusion at the school through initiatives in the community which has led to positive change in people’s lives.

Another member of the Orbis team, Trainee Trauma Informed Practitioner Holly-Mae Fraser, was Highly Commended in the Frontline Leader Award. She was praised for her outstanding leadership and dedication to improving care and support within the Clinical team at the Birchwood School and Priority home.

The National Learning Disabilities and Autism Awards recognise excellence for support for those with learning difficulties and pays tribute to those people and organisations who excel in providing quality care and education.

Orbis Education and Care operates several schools, day services, and residential facilities across Wales, supporting children and adults with complex needs linked to autism.

Two other Orbis staff members were shortlisted at this year’s awards – Lisa Cowles, Orbis’ Head of Clinical Services, for the Senior Manager Award, and Richard Wilcox, Support Worker at Cwtch Mawr in Cardiff, for the Best Newcomer Award.

At Orbis, we see the incredible work our teams do every single day, but to have that acknowledged on a national stage is something really special. This recognition highlights the dedication and compassion that is at the heart of Orbis Education and Care.”
