Opportunities on Billion Pound Construction Framework

Construction and maintenance industry contractors are being invited to tender for a new South West Wales Regional Contractors Framework worth up to £1billion.

Carmarthenshire County Council, in association with Neath Port Talbot County Borough Council, Pembrokeshire County Council, Ceredigion County Council and Swansea Council, is undertaking a procurement exercise to establish a framework agreement for use by public and voluntary sector organisations based in the five counties or who operate within the Powys region.

The framework will assist the whole region and the wider public sector to construct, refurbish and repair buildings for the next four years, until 2024.

These organisations include central government departments and their agencies, non-departmental public bodies, devolved administrations, NHS bodies, local authorities, the police, the fire service, the voluntary sector, charities and private sector organisations procuring on behalf of these bodies.

As well as providing opportunities for contractors, other bodies who may wish to utilise the framework are also being asked to show their interest, as they must be listed as a named participating body before May 24.

In order to support the tender and provide information to potential contractors, a market engagement event has been arranged.

Prospective candidates are invited to attend on May 22, at the Quinnell Lounge, Parc Y Scarlets, Llanelli.

“This is a major opportunity for businesses to be part of a large framework for contracts to build, refurbish and maintain public sector buildings across South Wales,” said Cllr Hazel Evans, Carmarthenshire County Council’s Executive Board Member for Environment.

“We would encourage any companies interested in tendering for the framework, to attend our market engagement event.

“We will be providing information on the proposed framework, and outlining the procurement process. There will also be opportunities to ask questions.”

Due to anticipated demand, spaces at the event are limited to two representatives per company.

Book via Eventbrite. More information about the framework tender exercise can also be found on Sell2Wales.

Following the main market engagement event, Business Wales will be holding a drop-in Sell2Wales and eTenderWales Workshop at 1.30pm in the same venue for interested contractors.

Other public bodies interested in becoming a named participating body, to procure services from the framework, need to register by May 24.
