A Wrexham based construction company is leading the way for building information modelling (BIM).

Read Construction celebrated their success this week as the first organisation in Wales and one of only four globally to gain a new accreditation.

The ISO 19650 accreditation recognises the company’s business systems and processes for BIM, emphasising the importance of digital construction in the modern world.

The event, attended by Ken Skates AM, celebrated the company’s achievement together with key stakeholders who have supported Read on its journey.

Alex Read, Read Construction Director said:

“We have worked tirelessly to quickly adopt the new standards and have transitioned our systems and processes to remain at the forefront of digital construction. The process involved a thorough audit of our systems and interrogation of our capabilities on a live project which has resulted in the successful award by the BSI.”

Clwyd South AM Ken Skates said:

“Read is a leading name in the construction industry and I'm extremely proud that they're based in my constituency. The company did an incredible on the new Llangollen health centre and a tremendous amount of hard work has gone in over many years to establish a reputation which stretches far beyond our corner of North Wales. Read has won numerous awards in recent years and its dedication to quality in every aspect of the organisation bodes well for continued success.”

Andy Butterfield, Managing Director, Global Built Environment at BSI said:

“Huge congratulations to Read Construction for being one of the first organizations globally to achieve BSI BIM verification to reflect ISO 19650 parts 1 and 2. This demonstrates their commitment to best practice when using BIM and will provide numerous benefits, including giving clients confidence that they are working with partners at the highest possible standard.”
