Newport Vegan Market Brings a Buzz to the City with First-Ever Event

Newport was buzzing with energy on Sunday, May 25, as the Vegan Fairs team brought their popular vegan market to the city for the very first time and by all accounts, it was a huge success.

Held at Friars Walk Shopping Centre in John Frost Square, the free event drew crowds from across the region, with locals and visitors alike sharing their excitement on social media. Many attendees praised the market’s lively atmosphere, the impressive variety of stalls, and the positive community vibe that filled the square throughout the day.

Running from 10am to 3pm, the Newport Vegan Market showcased a diverse lineup of local and national independent businesses. Visitors were treated to a mouth-watering selection of street food, sweet bakes and treats, artisan deli products like vegan cheese, handmade arts and crafts, eco-friendly beauty products, and a range of charity and outreach stalls.

Among the standout traders were Bristol Fungarium, Lilith Natural Beauty, the Spirit of Wales distillery, Plantuguese, and The Vegan Street Diner. Charities such as the Farm Animal Rescue Sanctuary and Newport SDA Church were also on hand to share their missions and engage with the public.

The organiser, Vegan Fairs, emphasised that the event wasn’t just for vegans, it was designed to offer something for everyone. Whether attendees were curious foodies, families looking for a fun day out, or passionate sustainability advocates, there was plenty to discover and enjoy.

True to their eco-conscious ethos, Vegan Fairs took steps to ensure the market aligned with sustainable values. Plastic bags and cutlery were not allowed, and visitors were encouraged to bring reusable shopping bags, cups, cutlery, and containers. The organisers also promoted the use of public transport to reduce the event’s environmental footprint.

As the positive reviews continue to pour in online, it’s clear that the Newport Vegan Market made its mark on the city, leaving attendees eager for a return. With its combination of delicious food, ethical shopping, and a feel-good atmosphere, this debut event has set the stage for more vegan-friendly happenings in Newport’s future.
