Visitors can now journey through space at Xplore! Science Discovery Centre’s brand-new Planetarium, which is now officially open and ready to welcome the public.
The new attraction marks a major milestone for Xplore! and for science engagement in the region, following previous Shared Prosperity Fund support for the centre’s upstairs expansion project.
Now open to school groups, community organisations and families, the new planetarium offers an immersive experience where visitors can travel through the solar system, discover constellations and uncover the mysteries of the universe.
With seating for 32 people at a time, plus two dedicated spaces for wheelchair users, the state-of-the-art space has been designed to inspire visitors and bring space to life.
“The completion of our planetarium marks a huge milestone for Xplore! and for science engagement in North Wales,” said Scot Owen, General Manager at Xplore! Science Discovery Centre.
“Being able to bring the first permanent planetarium to Wrexham is incredibly exciting, and we can’t wait to welcome visitors to experience space in a completely new way.”
Building on its growing success, Xplore! is now preparing to launch Phase Two of its redevelopment. This next stage will introduce the LaunchPAD (Play and Discovery) / PADlansio (Potsio a Darganfod) — a space-themed new environment for early years learning alongside a fully revamped café. The further expansion is set to open to the public later this year.
