Monmouthshire Building Society’s Dragonboat Team Goes Overboard With Fundraising Goal for St David’s Hospice Care

Monmouthshire Building Society ‘Savings Slayers' Dragonboat team doubled their original fundraising target, raising £2,201 at the Dragon Boat Race Llandegfedd Lake in aid of St David's Hospice.

As part of Monmouthshire Building Society's fundraising efforts for its charity partner, St David's Hospice Care, colleagues took on the Dragon Boat Race to raise funds for the charity and support the work it carries out across the local community.

Richard Connor, Kristy Maloney, Katalin Klein, Hristina Winstanley, Melissa Barts, Clare Brown powered through four races as the Society's ‘Savings Slayers'. The team was organised and led by Kristy, while Neale and Tom from the facilities team provided support with the set-up and organisation of the event.

Mon BS Savings Slayers team member and the Building Society's Head of Savings, Kristy Maloney, said:

“It was a fantastic day for everyone involved and all in support of a wonderful cause.

“I'd like to thank the whole team for their efforts. The 250m races flew by, with a few aching arms afterwards, everyone gave it their all. We're incredibly grateful to everyone who came along to support us, including Katrina and Vicki and their families. A special thank you also goes to everyone who donated. The support we've received from colleagues, friends and family has been amazing.”

Kristy added:

“We're delighted to have raised £2,201 for St David's Hospice Care. We're proud to know the money raised will help make a real difference to the patients and families supported by the hospice.”
