Mercure Newport is marking three years since opening its doors.
To commemorate the occasion, the hotel has partnered with local artist Consumer Smith to commission a series of artworks inspired by the city of Newport and the iconic Newport Transporter Bridge, which has heavily influenced the hotel’s design. These exclusive pieces will feature as bespoke welcome cards for guests —both UK-based and international—offering a warm, uniquely Newport welcome.
“This city has given us so much over the past three years,” said Ceri Trela, General Manager at Mercure Newport.
“We’re thrilled to celebrate this special anniversary with art that reflects Newport’s heritage, innovation, and growing spirit.”
Since opening Mercure Newport has achieved:
- Two consecutive years of winning the Tripadvisor Travellers’ Choice Award, placing it among the top 10% of hotels worldwide for guest satisfaction.
- Top customer satisfaction scores within both the Aimbridge Hospitality UK portfolio and the Accor brand across Europe.
- A 20% growth in top-line revenue since opening.
- Employment of over 40 full-time colleagues and strong partnerships with local suppliers in laundry, food, and more.
The hotel's birthday celebration event will feature the debut of Consumer Smith’s commissioned artworks—each available for purchase, with proceeds going to a local charity. The event will also feature a live performance by local talent Jack Perrett.
“This event brings together everything we stand for: local art, business, community, and hospitality,” said Ceri Trela. “We’re proud to grow with the city of Newport and to celebrate our journey so far with those who’ve helped make it happen.”
