Menzies LLP Strengthens Partner-Led Approach with Senior Appointments to Drive Regional and Service Expansion

Menzies LLP, one of the UK’s leading business advisory and accountancy firms, is continuing its strong growth trajectory with five partner appointments across its Tax, Employer Solutions, Audit, and Restructuring & Insolvency teams.

The strategic hires reinforce the firm’s commitment to investing in high-calibre talent and expertise to support clients through every stage of their business journey, it said.

The new appointments include:

  • Hayley Worsfold, Tax Partner based in the firm’s Cardiff office.
  • Emily James, Associate Partner, Employer Solutions, based in the firm's London office.
  • Mark Smith, Restructuring & Insolvency Partner, based in the firm’s London office.
  • Yuvan Deena, Audit and Assurance Partner, based in the firm’s Stevenage office.
  • Jan Charlesworth, Audit Partner and Responsible Individual (RI) in Menzies newly opened Gatwick office.

Hayley Worsfold joins the firm’s Cardiff office as a Tax Partner to support a portfolio of owner-managed businesses with proactive personal and corporate tax advice focused on practical, commercially driven solutions. Her primary focus will be helping clients address the challenges they face through effective tax planning, alongside broader business advisory, compliance and strategic support. She will also join Menzies’ Business Tax Strategy Group, helping to shape the firm’s strategic direction and support the development of future talent.

Emily James joins Menzies as an Associate Partner, with more than 15 years of experience supporting organisations with accessing and mobilising global talent. She will lead the continued growth of Menzies’ International Payroll, Global Mobility, Employment Tax and Compliance services. Emily has led multiple outsourced programmes, including designing agile policies for international relocations and remote working, payroll and management of cross-border workforce arrangements, across sectors such as pharmaceutical, luxury goods, automotive and logistics.

Mark Smith joins the firm’s Restructuring & Insolvency team as a Partner, bringing with him nearly 20 years of experience across complex restructuring and insolvency assignments in both the UK and internationally. He specialises in the wind down of funds and investment trusts, solvent eliminations and managed exits, and has developed expertise in the biotech, life science and fintech sectors, including regulated businesses. Alongside his client work, Mark is committed to mentoring young insolvency professionals and has contributed to the drafting of key insolvency legislation.

Yuvan Deena joins the firm's Stevenage office as an Audit and Assurance Partner, bringing with him over 15 years of experience at Forvis Mazars, Grant Thornton and KPMG. He has worked with medium and large clients across a diverse range of sectors, including international groups and businesses backed by Private Equity, as well as owner-managed and entrepreneurial businesses at various stages of their growth journey. Yuvan has built long-lasting client relationships throughout his career and takes pride in ensuring the advice and service he delivers is of the highest quality, helping clients to achieve their goals.

Jan Charlesworth joins Menzies as an Audit Partner and Responsible Individual (RI), forming part of the leadership team in the firm’s newly opened Gatwick office. With more than two decades of experience in senior roles at top 10 and mid-tier firms, and recognised as part of an award-winning Specialist Team of the Year at Jeffreys Henry, he will lead a portfolio of audit clients while playing a key role in developing and mentoring talent as the team expands, and in building the firm’s presence in the Gatwick Diamond.

Simon Massey, Managing Partner at Menzies LLP, said:

“These appointments reflect the way that we are continuing to grow the firm with the right expertise in the right places, while staying true to our Brighter Thinking approach. Strengthening leadership across Tax, Employer Solutions, Audit and Restructuring & Insolvency teams means we are well positioned to support clients with clear, commercially focused advice as they navigate both change and opportunity in a fast-moving world and economic environment.

“What’s important is that this growth doesn’t dilute how we work. A partner-led approach remains central to Menzies’ operation, and these appointments ensure that clients continue to benefit from direct access to senior expertise. As we expand our reach and services, this combination of capability and close client relationships will be key to how we move forward with confidence.”

These appointments build on Menzies’ continued growth trajectory, following the recent opening of its 100-person Gatwick office, its merger with Beever and Struthers, and its acquisition of ESG specialists Grain Sustainability in October. Alongside ongoing investment in its regional hubs across the UK, these milestones have strengthened Menzies’ position as a national, independent firm, with a combined fee income exceeding £100 million and a team of more than 1,000 professionals across the UK.
