Mazuma Celebrates Multiple Nominations at Business Awards

Bridgend-based accounting business Mazuma has enjoyed a double dose of recognition, being named a finalist in the 2026 Wales Business Awards and having two team members shortlisted at the Finance Awards Wales.

Mazuma is one of five businesses shortlisted in the Professional Services Firm of the Year category at the Business Awards, organised by Chambers Wales South East, South West and Mid.

The awards celebrate Welsh businesses for their hard work, innovation and success, giving them the chance to compete for Wales’ most prestigious honours.

Mazuma was the first UK accounting business to introduce a subscription model, making professional support more accessible for small businesses.

The accounting business continues to disrupt the sector through its technology, including its in-house platform MazApp, which takes the workload away from clients while simultaneously freeing up accounting professionals to deliver higher-value work.

The business remains proudly Welsh, maintaining its presence in Bridgend while growing across the UK.

Mazuma is also one of the UK’s most prominent female-founded accountancy businesses and continues to push the boundaries in a sector that is still predominantly male-dominated.

Lucy Cohen, founder and CEO of Mazuma, said:

“We set out to shake up accounting because, frankly, it needed it. Small businesses were being overlooked and people were stuck doing work that technology should have taken care of years ago.

“MazApp has been a game-changer for our clients and our internal team and I couldn’t be prouder of its success so far.

“To be recognised alongside other brilliant Welsh businesses means a lot to all of us at Mazuma. We’ve built this in Wales, backed local talent and never been afraid to challenge how things are done.”

At the Finance Awards Wales, Magda Snios has been shortlisted for Accounts Technician of the Year and Natalie Lewis-Evans for Accountant of the Year. Both are recognised for their impact on clients and colleagues across the profession.

Magda joined Mazuma last year, bringing more than 13 years of experience across both industry and practice. She works closely with small business clients, taking on everything from VAT returns to year-end accounts, so they have one less thing to worry about.

Magda also supports junior team members and has helped test and improve Mazuma’s in-house systems.

Natalie, Head Accountant at Mazuma, has more than 18 years of experience in the profession. She started out as an apprentice and is now a key part of the business, supporting both clients and colleagues day to day.

She works with small businesses, helping them stay on top of their tax obligations and make better decisions about their finances.

Over the past year, she has supported clients in reducing their tax bills and stepped in quickly when deadlines were tight and penalties were looming.

Stephanie Collins, Mazuma’s Head of Accountancy and Professional Standards, said:

“Having worked with Natalie for over 16 years, she is a credit to the profession, continuously truly demonstrating what it means to be an accountant.”

Lucy Cohen added:

“Magda and Natalie are exactly what this profession needs more of. They care about their clients, they know what they’re doing and they don’t make things harder than they need to be. They’re a big part of what makes Mazuma work day to day, so it’s great to see them recognised.”

The 2026 Business Awards ceremony will take place on 14 May 2026 at the Holland House Hotel in Cardiff, while the Finance Awards Wales winners will be announced on 15 May 2026.
