Showcasing the Best of Welsh Business

Llanelli’s Sosban Restaurant Aiming for “Best Restaurant in Wales”

Sosban Restaurant in Llanelli has appointed a new Executive Chef who aims to make the waterside venue the “best restaurant in Wales”.

Andrew Sheridan says he wants to drive Sosban to new heights bringing authentic flavours and beautifully plated dishes to not only local but also national diners visiting the restaurant, which is based at Llanelli’s North Dock.

Originally from Liverpool, at only 17 Andrew was a semi-finalist in the BBC Young Chef of the Year and later in 2011 he won North West Chef of the Year before going on to work at the ABode restaurant in Chester. He joins Sosban after spending the last 18 months at the helm of ‘The River Room’ restaurant located at the Bodnant Welsh Food Centre in the Conwy Valley.

Andrew’s impressive ambition reveals he is keen to position Sosban as one of Wales’ top destination restaurants, and he is off to a strong start as he has already introduced a range of delicious and unusual dishes to the current menu. His inspired dishes include nori rolled Scallops, mango puree and pickled rainbow radish to start; lamb Loin, garlic puree, goats curd and onions for mains; and beetroot, dark chocolate, raspberries and olives for dessert.

Commenting on his appointment Andrew said:

“I’m delighted to have been offered the opportunity to head up the culinary team at Sosban.  The restaurant already has a stellar reputation for both its food and its dramatic building and I look forward to developing the menu and introducing more unusual flavours to the palates of our customers. I want Sosban to be known for an amazing experience and the best restaurant in Wales.”

Robert Williams, co-owner of Sosban, said:

“Andrew’s reputation as an outstanding chef precedes him and we’re delighted to welcome him to the Sosban family. He is already bringing a great energy to the team to not only develop new menu items, but also to inspire the rising stars in our kitchen.  We’re already receiving great feedback from our customers who are enjoying the new menu and we look forward to welcoming guests, new and old, to Sosban in the near future.”

Since Sosban set down roots in Llanelli’s North Dock back in 2011, the restaurant has become synonymous with serving quality, tasty cuisine, balancing both classic and contemporary flavours.  Situated in a Grade II listed building, with exposed brick and wood-beam interior, the natural materials and impressive surroundings add to the dramatic and beautiful ambiance that customers know and love.
