Llandudno Development Scoops “Best in Wales” Award

A Llandudno development has been named the best high volume new housing development in Wales.

Anwyl's Parc Bodafon scooped the prestigious title at the annual LABC (Local Authority Building Control) Building Excellence Awards after impressing judges with its quality construction, design and placemaking.

The now completed development will go on to compete against other regional winners from across England and Wales at the national grand finals.

Built off Nant y Gamar Road, Parc Bodafon has become a thriving new community in a sought-after location close to the beach, town centre and many local amenities. Over the course of the development, buyers were drawn to its mix of contemporary and traditional house designs, with many benefiting from spectacular views towards the coast and Great Orme.

The award-winning development was managed by site manager Bleddyn Jones, who has worked for Anwyl Homes for nine years and has now successfully completed three LABC Wales award-winning developments.

Bleddyn said:

“It was fantastic to hear that Parc Bodafon had been named the best high volume new housing development in Wales. It's a tremendous achievement and a reflection of the hard work, dedication and attention to detail shown by everyone involved. From the planning and technical teams through to the tradespeople on site, it was a genuine team effort.

“I'd like to give a special thank you to area construction manager John Wilson, who's been with Anwyl for almost 40 years, for his support and backing throughout what was, at times, a complex and challenging build. Thank you also to trainee assistant manager Alex Davies for his hard work, dedication and willingness to learn. He's shown a great attitude throughout; it's such a pleasure to work with a young man with a passion for getting things right. Most importantly, a huge thank you to all the subcontractors for their commitment to quality.

“We're incredibly proud of what has been created here and it's been rewarding to see Parc Bodafon grow into an established and vibrant community.

“To receive this recognition for a completed development that so many people now call home makes the award even more special.”

Parc Bodafon follows in the footsteps of two previous Anwyl developments to win the same accolade. Parc Tirionfa in Rhuddlan secured the title in 2022, while Glyn Farm in Colwyn Bay was named Wales' best high volume new housing development in 2024. Both sites were also managed by Bleddyn.

Having now completed Parc Bodafon, Bleddyn is set to oversee construction work at Anwyl's forthcoming development in Penrhyn Bay, where work is expected to get underway shortly on 152 new homes.

Mark Calvert, managing director at Anwyl Homes Cheshire and North Wales, said:

“We're immensely proud to have received this award once again. To be recognised as delivering the best high volume housing development in Wales is a significant achievement and demonstrates the consistent quality standards we strive to achieve across every Anwyl development.

“I'd like to congratulate Bleddyn and the wider team on this well-deserved success. Managing one award-winning development is impressive, but to have played a leading role in three LABC Wales winners is a remarkable accomplishment.

“We look forward to taking the same commitment to quality to our upcoming development in Penrhyn Bay.”
