Top 100 law firm, Hugh James, has partnered up with Women in the Law UK to host the organisation’s first event in Wales at its offices at Two Central Square in Cardiff on 24 September.
Following the theme, ‘Confidence, Clarity and Connection in Wales’, the free event will welcome up to 120 women and men from the legal sector in Wales.
Women in the Law UK was founded in 2018 with a goal to support the next generation of leaders in Law and encouraging career development through personal growth. Women in the Law UK has previously held events across the UK but not yet in Wales.
The not-for-profit group was set up by practising barrister Sally Penni who will chair the event this month. Speakers include business psychologist and coach, Manjula Bray; ambassador and co-founder of Welsh accountancy firm Mazuma, Lucy Cohen; and partner in the corporate and commercial team at Hugh James, Emily Powell, who will discuss gender diversity career progression in the legal sector.
Emily Powell, partner at Hugh James, said,
“I am thrilled to be working with Women in the Law UK to promote conversations around gender diversity in the legal profession in Wales. At Hugh James, two thirds of our workforce are women so this event is one we feel closely connected to.
Diane Brooks, Human Resources Director at Hugh James, said,
“We value the benefits equality can bring to the workplace and believe that welcoming and nurturing a unique pool of people has led to our hard working and exceptionally talented team. This event promises to be a great opportunity to find ways of continuing to encourage, attract and retain a wider representation of women in the legal sector in Wales.”
