Gwynedd Council Renovates Workshops to Make Space for 8 New Businesses

Parc Glynllifon’s renovated workshops

Following investment and improvements to the old craft workshops within Parc Glynllifon, Gwynedd Council has been marketing the renovated units, with eight new businesses established within the workshops since the beginning of the year.

Over the past few months, a variety of local creative craftspeople have moved into the unique craft workshops at Parc Glynllifon creating co-operation between them and the original tenants in the ‘Iard’ which is also part of the park.

The original tenants who have established in the workshops include a shop offering stylish and contemporary Welsh gifts; a café which produces home cooked food; company offering craft courses and events; textile productions; art produced by recycled and reclaimed wood washed up on the shores and a blacksmith.

Amongst the various new businesses which have established are two sole traders who produce high standard jewellery; a shop front and unit displaying craftwork produced by a learning disability group; a sculpture and 2D artist; a ceramic studio; two potteries one which offers training sessions; photographer; a wood worker renovating old furniture.

Councillor Mandy Williams-Davies, Gwynedd Council Cabinet Member for the Economy said:

“It’s fantastic to see Parc Glynllifon flourishing with a wide-variety of talented local craftspeople now established in the park. Glynllifon is a great location for artists, and it is good to see that the Council’s business team has been able to support a number of businesses to move to the units within the park.

“Visitors to Parc Glynllifon can leisurely stroll into the courtyard where the workshops are located and gain an experience of the work processes carried out and an opportunity to purchase some of the businesses products. I would urge anyone who is interested in crafts and the arts to pay a visit.”

Parc Glynllifon is open all year round and offers something for everyone from footpaths through the estates woodland, historical buildings and locations, picnic areas and an abundance of activities to interest the children. A number of businesses located in Parc Glynllifon are part of the Helfa Gelf – Art Trail campaign where art studios open their doors to the public during every weekend throughout September.
